The 1980s fashion trends brought about a remarkable change in the evolution of the industry. From shoes, clothing, and hairstyles, almost everything managed to create an impact that were followed and some of which are still being adopted today. The 80s T shirts also played a role in the decade's fashion trends. Many of the 80s shirts were a 'statement' to all who saw them.

Some were verbal statements about a teenager's best loved rock band or maybe an all time favorite film. Others wanted their shirts to serve as personality statements with funny and whimsical sayings. As these t shirts became a leader in apparel, they are specially made with appliqués which are steam pressed right into the surface of the public. This procedure results to a really good shirt but then, these appliqués unfortunately bubble, stiffen and peel of your shirt.

A short period after the manufacturers knew that they were heading to a successful project, somebody discovered that it would be easier and less costly for them to screen print designs. Aside from that, screen printing is more durable and last longer than the commercial appliqués. Screen printing made the way for bulk designing and purchasing.
